Let yourself be enchanted by the mysterious Czocha Castle.
An obligatory point of every trip to Lower Silesia – Czocha Castle, was built as a guardhouse in the 13th century and has gained its current appearance over time. The ruling families scrupulously arranged the interiors according to the current trends, but the greatest metamorphosis was under the supervision of a well-known German architect, Bodo Ebhardt. It was he who, on the recommendation of the last owner of the castle, Ernest Gütschow, a visionary and millionaire, gave the enigmatic architectural form of the castle, placing in it, among others secret passages. The castle was to be not only a showcase of Gütschow, but also a kind of museum of works of art. The jewels of tsarist Russia rested in the treasury, and works of art decorated the chambers and corridors. Unfortunately, after the war, the building was looted several times, although to this day historians dream of finding a part of Gütschow’s considerable collection. Moreover, the maps and drawings show that it is possible! Thousands of square meters of underground have been documented, only some of which are uncovered …
