Underground Tourist Route in Kłodzko

Underground corridors and tunnels under the city streets were hollowed out from the 13th to the 17th century for storage purposes. The chambers had a depth of up to 30 meters, and the low temperature allowed for long-term freshness of food products. Thanks to this, they gained fame not only in the nearest area but also along the Amber Route. In the Kłodzko cellar, the famous Kłodzko beer was also rested.
During the wars, the underground chambers were used as defensive shelters. The route is about 600 meters long and is one of the most interesting in Poland.

The visit is accompanied by the sounds of the old town (the bustle of the fair, middle-class music, feasts in the former tavern), and the sounds of battle. You can meet animated rats that react dynamically to the movement of passing people. You can see mannequins of life size in epochal costumes, exhibits depicting the life of the former citizens of the city and the manner of managing the basements under their houses as well as stylized boards referring to the forms of penalties in the 16th and 18th centuries.

Fortress Srebrna Góra

The Srebrna Góra fortress is one of the most important attractions in Lower Silesia. At the time of the uprising (1765 -1777) it belonged to the most modern fortifications of this type in Europe. The greatest admiration was aroused by the powerful Donjon, one of the most interesting fortifications of the modern era. You can visit the fortress with a guide in the historical Prussian uniform. The complex consists of six forts and several bastions. Its main core is a bastion complex with Donjon inside. This object had 151 fortress rooms (casemate), spread over three floors. Huge warehouses, wells, an armory, chapel, prison, hospital, bakery, brewery, craft workshops and a powder magazine made the fort completely independent and self-sufficient.

Sztolnie Walimskie Complex Rzeczka “Riese”

From 1943, in the area of the Sowie Mountains, the Germans carried out extensive construction work under the code name Riese (Giant). The construction has not been completed, and its remnant is a series of objects shrouded in mystery. There are some hypotheses that it could have been the construction of underground reinforcement factories or quarters for the Supreme Command of the Third Reich.
The 500-meter underground tourist route has been enriched with audiovisual effects referring to the times of the Second World War and the work carried out while drilling the corridors.

Another says that the area has a “golden train” and trucks with gold of Wroclaw.
