Beginner hiking enthusiasts can successfully choose the aforementioned Karpacz as their base – not only for local attractions that are worth visiting (e.g. the Sports and Tourism Museum, the Toy Museum or the KPN National Park Information Center), but for the simple convenience (guesthouses, restaurants, shops – all in the near distance). It is worth spending the first day on the soon “warm-up”, which will make it easier to climb Śnieżka later. One of the obligatory points on the map of the area is the famous Wang Temple – the blue trail leads to it from Biały Jar in Karpacz (1.5 km – approx. 40 minutes). Extending the first exit by less than 3.5 km, the yellow trail will lead us to the Pilgrims (one of the most interesting and recognizable rock formations in the Karkonosze Mountains). Including the way back, the entire route should not be too demanding, even for people (less than 10 km, which takes about 4 hours).

There are several possible routes to reach Śnieżka, apart from the gondola lift, which allows you to reach the summit from Pec pod Sněžkou in the Czech Republic. The most popular is the cable lift to Kopa Mountain from Karpacz and then short walk from Kopa to Śnieżka Mountain. In the summer season, one of the most interesting, although not the easiest options, is to choose the red trail from Biały Jar through Kocioł Łomniczki overlooking the Łomniczki Waterfall, and then ascent to Śnieżka from the west (3.5 h – 7.7 km). Less frequented, and therefore much more attractive routes include an equally interesting scenic route leading from Szeroki Most in Karpacz through Sowia Dolina and Czarna Kopa (3 h 15 min – 6.7 km). Another interesting route is the ascent to Śnieżka by the blue trail from the Wang Church through Kocioł Mały Stawu and Burnt Watchtower (during the trip (3.5 h – 9 km) we pass two popular mountain shelters – Samotnia and Strzecha Akademicka). The shortest, but the most difficult route is the black trail – through the Biały Jar and Kopa cauldron to the top of Śnieżka (we start the ascent from the cable car station: approx. 2.5 h – 5.7 km).

As you can see – in the Karkonosze Mountains, almost all roads lead to Śnieżka!
