Feel Sentiment, visit Kowary.
A place where you will feel sentiment.
Who of us does not remember a high-gloss wall unit, a frania washing machine, a kitchen cupboard, a Vibovit eaten with your fingers, or a Bravo or Popcorn read (often surreptitiously)? We often sigh when we say: “those were the times”, because although there was not much in the shops, the people and our surroundings at the time evoke a great … sentiment. We know a place where your memories of this period will come back as vividly as possible. Come in there with us. Discover Sentiment Museum.
The Sentiment Museum is located in the legendary but no longer existing Carpet Factory in Kowary and is a kind of vehicle that takes us back to the times of the Polish People’s Republic. On an area of over 400 m2, you will find exhibits, once everyday objects, accumulated here over the years. The origin of the exhibits is very different – says Andrzej Olszewski, the owner of the Museum – some of them are their own collection and even items from childhood stored in the attic, some are already collected for this idea. And when the museum is open, we receive more and more gifts. Most often, someone finds a single item or arranges an apartment after someone, brings the whole collection to us (or we pick it up ourselves), and we select and choose the so-called “Flavors” – he adds.
The museum is divided into rooms styled for modern generations, whose youth fell in the years from 1945 to 2000. We will visit the grandparents’ room (where everyone could have fun and somehow nothing broke), we will enter the grandmother’s kitchen (with the obligatory white sideboard), we will look into the guest room (with an exhibition of the then must-have or crystals). We will also see our childhood toys and many other objects, at the sight of which we will shout with sentiment: “I remember it!”.
Because each of us has our own beautiful memories and wants to come back to them. Anyway, this is how the idea for the creation of this place was born. The idea was born out of these things stored in the attic for years – they are not used on a daily basis, but it was a pity to throw them away, because they are just a part of us. Besides, my parents run a seasonal bar under the ski slope. I placed a 1-liter glass Pepsi-Cola bottle behind the buffet, which evoked a lot of positive memories for our customers. So I started to collect other “sentiments” and so, after a few years, on June 21, 2018, I opened the Sentiment Museum – recalls Andrzej Olszewski.
In the museum we can find exhibits from the years 1945-2000, but the year 2000 is a contractual date, because, as the owner himself emphasizes, “something different is a sentiment for every generation”. Therefore, you can be sure that in this place you will also find your sentimental object. And memories!
