The peak in the Izera Mountains, located north-west of Szklarska Poręba, rising to a height of 1058 m above sea level. It offers a phenomenal panorama of the Karkonosze Mountains, the Kaczawskie Mountains and the Rudawy Janowickie Mountains – one of the best views provided by the nearby hills.
The history of mountain tourism in the region dates back to the first half of the 19th century, when the Schaffgotsch family commissioned the construction of a wooden mountain hostel in Wysoki Kamień, to which a lookout tower was later added. In the same century, the building burned down and was rebuilt again, although the future did not look very bright for him. After the war, it was robbed and devastated, the shelter was closed in 1962 and demolished a year later. Currently – and this is an exceptional situation in many ways – the owners of the summit are members of the Gołb family from Szklarska Poręba, who builds a completely new shelter on the summit (so far, only a buffet is available to tourists). Two tourist routes pass through Wysoki Kamień – the yellow one, which leads to Zakręt Śmierci (Death Curve), and the red one (Main Sudetes Trail), leading through Szklarska Poręba further into Karkonosze.
