Shared moments with the family, sports adventures, discovering the region from the perspective of two wheels – all this can be offered by Lower Silesia thanks to the richness of its bicycle routes. There are many locations in our region aimed at active families, including numerous bicycle routes. Everyone can find the perfect one for themselves, regardless of age or fitness. In this article, we present a spot that is intended for families with children. It turns out that you can see many attractive places by bike.

Singletrack Szklarska Poręba is a place created for families who want to spend their free time actively. Gravel routes, few hills, designated roads – this is the perfect way to relax with the whole family. First of all, a bicycle trip is to be fun for the youngest. The Szklarska Poręba singletrack is a route that children can handle from an early age, on these roads you can meet little ones pedaling on their own bikes. Such a trip with children is also a great opportunity to make a picnic surrounded by nature. Along the way, there are shelters where you can make stops. By the way, while in the vicinity of Szklarska Poręba, it is worth stopping in places such as Wysoki Kamień – it is a summit with a height of 1058 m above sea level, which offers views of the Jizera Mountains, the Kaczawskie Mountains and the Karkonosze Mountains. There is an atmospheric shelter on site, where you can drink tea and eat homemade pastries. An ideal place to rest in this area is the newly created viewpoint – Złoty Widok. It is located over a 20-meter rock cliff, from where you can enjoy the views of the Karkonosze Mountains while lying on wooden deckchairs. Nearby, in the Karkonosze National Park, the charming Szklarki Waterfall is also enchanting – it is as much as 13.3 m high. On the way, you can also see the closed Stanisław quartz mine. In the past, quartz crystals were mined there, used in the production of glass, but the exploitation turned out to be unprofitable and there is a stone desert left there, where you can wander.

Singletrack Glacensis

Another route intended for families is the Międzygórze Loop. It is one of the loops belonging to the largest network of routes in Europe – Singletrack Glacensis. All paths have 28 loops located throughout the Kłodzko Region. The Międzygórze Loop is a road suitable for families with slightly older or more experienced children. Although there are no difficulties on the route, it is quite long, as it is about 30 km in total. You have to be aware that some bends may surprise cyclists. The route is diverse, it leads through forest gravel, narrow trails, asphalt and field paths. On the way, beautiful views emerge from behind the trees, and the biggest attraction is the stop at the Wilczki waterfall – the second largest waterfall in the Polish Sudetes. It is a 22-meter-high water attraction that can be viewed from different perspectives, including, among others, from the bridge from the time of Marianna Orańska – a Dutch princess residing in Lower Silesia.

The Barycz Valley is a place where everyone will want to come back, and certainly families on bicycle trips. It is a perfect area for rides with the youngest children, because there are many loops no longer than 10 km. Routes with beautiful views on the largest and most famous reserve in the Barycz Valley, Stawy Milickie. There are over 300 reservoirs, the largest of which is not inferior to the lakes. Their area is seven and a half thousand hectares. The reserve is also the largest bird paradise in Poland. About 300 species of birds have been counted there. The network of paved forest roads, wide bicycle paths, and breathtaking landscapes are especially encouraging for cycling. Among the many routes for family cycling trips, it is worth choosing the loop around the Grabownica pond – it leads mainly through the forest, and the whole distance is approx. 10 km. Families will especially love the route leading through the Krośnickie Ponds nature trail. On the way, you pass 11 ponds, you drive through an avenue of large oaks, and the ground is constantly hardened. The Krośnica Narrow Gauge Railway is nearby – an ideal attraction for children. A very popular path in the Stawów Milicki nature reserve is the educational path In the land of ponds. It is about 11 km long and leads through paved roads or roads made of concrete blocks. It stretches across the dikes of the complex, so you can listen to the birds there and admire the glass of the water.
