EXPO 2025 in Osaka went down in history as one of the most impressive exhibition events in recent years. For 184 days, the world gathered on the Japanese island of Yumeshima, showcasing the latest technological advancements, visions of the future, and unique cultural experiences. The event attracted over 25.5 million visitors, becoming a platform for the global exchange of ideas and inspiration.

Lower Silesia in Japan

Poland’s presence was once again strongly felt in the international arena, with Lower Silesia among the 11 regions representing our country, showcasing its economic, innovative and cultural potential.

Lower Silesia’s representation at the Expo had both symbolic and practical significance. The region, long associated with economic development, modern technologies, and a strong scientific and research network, perfectly reflected the Expo’s theme. During the event, Lower Silesian institutions, companies, and local government representatives actively participated in business meetings, presenting regional solutions. Lower Silesia’s presence at the Polish exhibition was an important element in building its international recognition.

Art, emotions and a strong cultural accent – EXPO summary

The closing of EXPO 2025 was marked by a unique gala combining reflections, thanksgiving, and a celebration of successes. A key element of the ceremony was the artistic aspect, dominated by music, which is no surprise, as the beating heart of the Polish Pavilion was the work of Fryderyk Chopin, beloved in Japan. Natalia Kukulska, among others, performed during the gala, presenting arrangements of the piano master’s compositions. Her interpretations of classical pieces in a modern setting perfectly fit the spirit of the Expo, which combines heritage with future challenges. Another artist who gave the event intensity and energy was L.U.C., a creator known for combining music, history, and visual art.

The Polish Pavilion – one of the greatest successes of the Expo

This year’s Expo was particularly significant for Poland, as our pavilion received the BIE Gold Award, one of the most important awards. This recognition recognizes the quality of the presentation, aesthetics, and program content. The pavilion, located in the “Saving Lives” zone, was visited by over 1.3 million visitors. Its architecture, inspired by organic forms and constructed using traditional wood-joining techniques, evoked the dialogue between Polish craftsmanship and Japanese culture. During the six months of its implementation, the pavilion hosted over 100 economic events, approximately 500 artistic and cultural events, over 250 craft workshops, and B2B meetings with companies from across Poland. A key element was the Plantation of Ideas space, showcasing innovative solutions from 40 Polish companies. The pavilion has become a recognizable venue not only for its business program but also for its daily musical events.

Collaboration with PAIH: The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) made a significant contribution to organizing Poland’s presence at EXPO 2025, coordinating all activities related to the economic program and regional promotion. Thanks to this initiative, Lower Silesia was able to showcase its potential. Although Expo 2025 has concluded, its impact will undoubtedly be felt long afterward. Participation in the event strengthened the region’s visibility in Asian markets, showcased Lower Silesia’s investment and technological potential, and strengthened cooperation with international partners.
