The provincial capital is perhaps the most associated with Lower Silesia of all cities. There are many unique places here – the Old Town Square, Ostrów Tumski, Aula Leopoldina, Panorama Racławicka, and the country’s famous zoo. Wroclaw.

Description

The capital of Lower Silesia is located on the Oder River, in the center of the Silesian Plain. The pearl of Wroclaw is undoubtedly the Market Square – one of the largest in Europe, with the Town Hall counted among the most important monuments of Gothic bourgeois architecture in Poland.

This city combines a rich history with modernity, offering both Gothic monuments such as the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on the Cathedral Island on Ostrów Tumski, and unique attractions such as the Afrykarium in the Wroclaw Zoo. The Market Square, one of the largest medieval squares in Europe, is surrounded by colorful townhouses, and the mid-market block includes the Old Town Hall, which is a branch of the Wroclaw City Museum and is open to tourists.

Wroclaw is also the cultural center of Lower Silesia, full of museums, theaters and cyclical events, such as the Christmas Fair, St. John’s Fair, the annual attempt to break the Guinness record for simultaneously performing “Hey Joe” during the Thanks Jimi Festival, or the Vertigo Summer Jazz Festival, a summer celebration of jazz that enlivens Lower Silesia, bringing concerts to outdoor and atmospheric venues in the region, creating an unforgettable musical atmosphere. Also noteworthy is the Centennial Hall, listed on the UNESCO list, and the pergola and Japanese garden in its vicinity. Wroclaw is also a city of dwarves scattered throughout its territory.
