Serial Breslau takes viewers back to 1936, when the Wroclaw - then-German Breslau - was preparing for the Olympics in the shadow of rising Nazism. The Disney+ production not only tells a criminal story, but also shows many authentic places of Breslau to visit while exploring the city.
The series is set in 1936when Breslau (today's Breslau) is an important city of the Third Reich and is preparing for the summer Olympics in Berlin. Nazi authorities want the world to see Germany as a modern, strong and "clean" state - but underneath this facade are conflicts, violence and political intrigue.
The main character is commissioner Franz Podolsky (Tomasz Schuchardt) - a German criminal police officer of Polish origin. Podolsky is drawn into an investigation of a brutal murder, which soon turns out to have political and international connections.
Standing in his way is Lena (Sandra Drzymalska) - a young, independent woman who becomes embroiled in events bordering on the criminal and political world. Influential NSDAP functionaries and representatives of the world of sports and diplomacy also appear in the background, further complicating the investigation.
The series combines elements of crime noir i spy thriller - Here we have a murder mystery, a power struggle, political manipulation, and the personal drama of a protagonist torn between loyalty to his superiors and his own conscience.
The atmosphere of Breslau is dark and sultry: on the one hand, the city shines with propaganda brilliance, and on the other, it hides dangerous secrets. Tension builds as the city prepares for the Olympics, which is expected to turn the eyes of the world away from the brutal reality of Nazi rule.
The director of the series is Leszek Dawid ("You Are God," "Ki")., Paweł Flis ("Interior," "Demon") was responsible for the cinematography, and Magdalena Żakowska ("Blood of Blood 3") and Bartosz Janiszewski ("Wataha") were responsible for the script. The series is produced by ATM Grupa, the largest independent production studio in Poland. The project is being produced in Poland with financial support granted by the Polish Film Institute from funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The premiere in Lower Silesia was organized by the cinema DCF, and the series is available on the Disney + platform from September 12, 2025.
