DAAS is a 2011 historical drama directed by Adrian Panek.
The film transports viewers to the late 18th century, a time of social unrest and religious upheaval that gave rise to the figure of Jacob Frank — a charismatic mystic and self-proclaimed messiah. The story focuses on three main characters: Frank himself, his loyal disciple — the priest and proselyte Jakub Goliński, and a mysterious inquisitor, Hieronim Łopata.
Daas is a tale about the power of ideology, manipulation, and the need for faith, but also about the price one must pay for truth. Although set in the 18th century, the film tackles universal themes — it explores the mechanisms behind the birth of totalitarian systems, charismatic leadership, and spiritual emptiness.
