VALLEY OF THE GODS is a Polish-American-Luxembourgish sci-fi thriller from 2019, directed by Lech Majewski, featuring an outstanding international cast. The film weaves together three narrative threads that invite the viewer to interpret their meaning.
The first is an ancient Navajo legend about gods trapped in the rocks of the Valley of the Gods, rich in symbolism and archetypes. The second thread follows Wes Tauros, the world’s wealthiest man, who hides from the world after a personal tragedy. The third story is about John Ecas, a writer struggling with a traumatic breakup and a creative crisis. Meanwhile, Tauros’s company, which mines uranium, takes over the Valley of the Gods, planning to dig tunnels in this sacred land. The peace of the Navajo ancestors is shattered, and the rocks give birth to an avenger.
The film leaves viewers questioning how far one would go for love and what secrets the mythical Navajo land holds.
