LOVING VINCENT

LOVING VINCENT is a Polish-British animated film directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman. It is the world’s first fully hand-painted feature-length animation, created using over 65,000 oil-painted frames by 125 professional painters from around the globe. The film brings the vibrant and expressive world of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings to life, unfolding a unique narrative about the artist’s life and mysterious death. Structured like a detective story, the film delves into the last days of van Gogh through the eyes of those who knew him.

Locations: Live-action sequences were shot at 3 Mills Studios in London and at the Wrocław Feature Film Studio in Poland.

Academy Award (Oscar) – Nomination for Best Animated Feature
Shanghai International Film Festival – Award for Best Animated Feature

The film opened the 42nd Gdynia Polish Film Festival and was screened in the main competition at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
