Świeradów Zdrój – a must-see!

Świeradów Zdrój has been attracting visitors for years with its climate and mineral-rich spa water. Here, we can also stroll along the longest larch walking hall in Lower Silesia and one of the longest in Poland. The 80-meter-long hall is a favorite destination for spa guests and tourists alike. But Świeradów Zdrój also boasts three other attractions. These are places that will delight, captivate, and leave you with lasting memories of this city. They are well worth exploring.

The smell of bread in Czarci Młyn

“At the Miller’s, bread happens.” This age-old principle remains true at Czarci Młyn (Czarci Mill). Even today, every tourist can sample the bread baked here during a visit. The watermill in Świeradów-Zdrój was built around 1890 and is a typical example of the architecture used on the Silesian-Czech border. It was powered by a 6.5-meter diameter overshot waterwheel. The building also housed a bakery with a wood-burning bread oven. After years of operation, the mill was closed for a period. However, between 2010 and 2012, it was revitalized. The building was completely renovated and the machinery restored. The waterwheel was reactivated, and a Plant and Herb Garden was established around the mill. Today, the mill is bustling with activity and welcomes visitors. Numerous events, meetings, and bread-making workshops are held there. Tours of the mill are available Tuesday through Saturday, every hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last admission at 3:00 p.m.). Ticket prices are PLN 15 (regular) and PLN 10 (concession).

The life of bees in the Jizera Meadow

Near Czarci Młyn (Czarci Mill), there’s a must-see for every lover of the Jizera Mountains and nature. The NATURA 2000 “Izerska Łąka” Environmental Education Center is a place where visitors can learn about the flora and fauna of the Jizera Mountains and Foothills meadows. They’ll see a replica of the clear, pollution-free summer sky over the Jizera Mountains, and learn about the nature and impact of light pollution. Furthermore, at Izerska Łąka (thanks to a hive in front of it equipped with a microcamera system), they can learn about the life of a bee family. Several times a year, the Center is also open in the evenings, where visitors can listen to astronomy lectures and use telescopes. Visits to Izerska Łąka are possible from Tuesday to Saturday, every hour from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (last admission 3:00 PM). Tours are free.

The Heart of the City, or the Culture Station

Since March 2019, all visitors to Świeradów-Zdrój must also visit the renovated former railway station building and the railway model currently housed within. The model depicts sections of railway lines no. 317 and 336 from 1945-1970, on the Gryfów Śląski – Mirsk – Świeradów-Zdrój – Świeradów Forest District section. Weighing nearly 800 kg, the model was constructed in H0 scale, and the total track length is approximately 105 meters. Railway enthusiasts will see five locomotives and two motor cars, 28 carriages, 40 switches, approximately 600 trees and shrubs, and 200 figurines representing people and animals.

Skywalk

This unique attraction, towering over the town of Świeradów-Zdrój, ascends 62 meters, offering views of the spa’s romantic architecture and the beauty of nature. The stunning structure is complemented by educational, cultural, and adventure elements, which you’ll encounter while strolling along the gently winding 850-meter-long footbridge. At the top, you can rest on a teardrop-shaped net or step onto a glass platform and feel as if you’re floating in the air. The tour can be completed with a ride down a 105-meter water slide. In seconds, you’ll be back from the clouds to the ground.

Health Resort
