The inspiration and theme of this Wrocław event is Midsummer Night and the rituals and traditions associated with it. In June, the Market Square, as well as Świdnicka and Oławska streets, will transform into a vibrant place full of colors, smells and unique objects.
Midsummer Night, also known as Sobótka, Kupala Night or St. John’s Eve, falls on the night of June 20-21, being the shortest night of the year. In folk tradition, this holiday was associated with the elements of fire and water, and its celebration was supposed to ensure prosperity and abundance.
The modern celebration of Midsummer Night is primarily an opportunity to have fun with elements of ancient Slavic customs.
