Grębocice commune

The commune is located in the northern part of the Lower Silesia Province, between Głogów and Polkowice, with its seat in the village of Grębocice, the history of which, confirmed by documents, dates back to the second half of the 13th century (the village was founded under German law in 1298).

Although mostly lowland areas around Grębocice, apart from the otherwise interesting Dalkowskie Hills, are primarily favorable to agriculture, the natural and landscape values of the area mean that the commune has a lot to offer to tourists visiting the region. Especially interesting, both in terms of natural and cultural heritage, should be the aforementioned Dalkowskie Hills, and more precisely – the nature and landscape complex in Grodowiec and the Uroczysko Obiszów nature reserve. In these areas, there are trails that make it easier to get to know these unique locations, where you can admire, among others, specimens of protected plants, over 50 years old oaks and hornbeams, ecological lands (with preserved water holes). But also – the remains of early medieval strongholds in Obiszów, historic churches (and other religious objects, especially those that make up the architectural ensemble of the Marian Sanctuary in Grodowiec (including the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Chapel of Mount Olives with the Stations of the Cross). These are just a few of the attractions waiting for tourists, it is also worth mentioning the bicycle route leading through the commune, which also includes other attractions of the area – in Grębocice, Krzydłowice, Wielka Wólka or Szymocin, including the former palace complexes.
