Krobielowice Palace

Krobielowice – once called Krieblowitz – is a small village located about 20 km from Wroclaw, in the Bystrzyca RiverValley Landscape Park.

The original building was a fortified manor and was built in the 14th century when the town belonged to the von Sitten family. Then, the village passed into the hands of the Minorite monastery and from 1529 the estates were taken over by the Premonstratensian monastery, who built the palace by enlarging the mansion by 3 wings designed in the Renaissance style. Much later a façade on the south side and three baroque towers were added. In the nineteenth century, the palace became the property of the Prussian Field Marshal Gebhart Leberecht von Blücher, who received it from King Frederick William III together with numerous goods in and around Wroclaw in recognition of his merits to the nation and achievements in the fight for freedom and the final defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo. The current owner, a New Zealander, as a little boy received a picture and a drawing of the palace made by his cousin’s grandmother, who as a young woman during the First World War visited the palace. Because he is related to the Blücher family, he decided to come to Poland to see what he knew from the photo in reality.

The palace was in a much worse condition than he had thought it would be but he decided to purchase it anyway. Its reconstruction took more time than planned. It lasted from 1992 to 1996. Currently there is a hotel and a restaurant and the adjacent area has been turned into a golf course. There used to be a kindergarten in the palace for some time. In the late 1960s, apartments for state-owned farm employees were arranged there. However, they were moved to new blocks of flats in the 1970s. The facility offers the possibility of organizing special events, including New Year’s Eve parties, Christmas Eve dinners, birthdays, weddings, communions and christenings. It is also possible to organize outdoor events in the green area surrounding the Palace. There is a 9-hole golf course with a driving range (a golf training range).
